Toyama Hamono

The founding of Toyama Hamono dates back to the Bunkyu period of the Edo era in Sanjo, a Japanese town in Niigata famous for for the craft of black-smithery.

Toyama Hamono methods are based on the manufacturing methods of Katana (Japanese swords) and have been hand-making secateurs and shears for almost 160 years. As the original manufacturer of Echigo garden shears, Toyama's techniques have been passed down through generations. Toyama Hamono enjoys a reputation throughout Japan and the world for producing excellent gardening tools that can be used regularly and continuously.
