This Kanenori Nata delivers exceptional performance and functionality. It’s of the koshi-nata style, so it’s perfect for chopping and splitting logs and bamboo, and chopping down or pruning small trees. It features a high-quality brass bolster and finger guard for added protection. The sleek, matte finish on the blade makes it a durable and aesthetically pleasing tool.

You’re sure to make clean and precise cuts with its single-beveled, high-grade carbon steel blade, which makes it ideal for smoothly stripping branches flush with the trunk when pruning. Its oak handle has been dyed with persimmon tannins, which gives it a luxurious dark color and makes it more durable and long-lasting.

Includes a sheath for safe and easy transport.

    Solid Axe!!

Seems to be just the right weight- heft so to speak. Very sturdy. Also, as with almost all Japanese made products, very high quality. Highly recommend!

    Very disappointed

As soon as I opened the package my instinct was to return it right away. You can't tell from the pictures but not only is this tool not full tang, but the blade tapers almost immediately in the handle. I am going to keep it based on generally high reviews but it looks like the blade will get wobbly in time. I found plenty of natas at the same price or lower that were full tang. Also, you must wear gloves (which you should do anyway) or the handle will chew up your hand. As the other reviewer stated there is a deep groove in the handle that is not at all comfortable to a bare hand. I hope this doesn't fall apart right away and I can get a couple of years out of it but I would not recommend this nata to anyone based on my first impression. LAstly, it comes sharp enough to do work but not nearly as sharp as I expected. Very disappointed in this $100.00 tool.

    Beautiful and Effective

I chose this Nata over others because of its traditional design and materials. Its carbon steel blade is more easily sharpened than stainless blades. The fit and finish of the materials are fine. The wooden handle is comfortable...but only if you wear light leather gloves (or something similar) for serious chopping. There is a deep groove in the handle to allow the disassembly of the axe as needed. The single bevel edge allows for both slicing and chopping, in the kitchen or out of doors. The heavy blade and the curve of the handle give a lot of force for chopping. A two-handed grip is possible. This is a good tool for trimming thin branches from brush and trees. It is also useful for debarking logs and for light planing of timbers.
