I have never owned or used a Japanese pull plane before, but after watching "Shoyan Japanese Carpenter" on YouTube use the pull plane I decided I wanted one. The plane from Daitool is inexpensive, lightweight and well made. The packaging was good, the plane well secured. I tested the plane fresh out of the box and the results were ok, but not good. Like Western style planes, it requires work to make it function correctly and efficiently. So, for me, the next step was to watch YouTube videos on how to correctly prepare the plane for use. Now I need to prepare the Dai, sharpen the kanna (blade) and chip breaker as per the instructions. I have not done this yet so I cannot say how well it works, I am sure the plane will work perfectly if set up correctly. If I am satisfied, I will likely buy another, bigger Japanese pull plane.
