These pruning shears from Doukan are as sharp as they are beautiful. Their Japanese oak handles are strong and comfortable to hold, and the 510mm handle length gives extra reach, allowing the blades to easily access those hard-to-reach places.
Their blades stand out with a wonderful pattern on the surface. Hand made from hammered special knife steel, and quenched and hardened, these blades will slice through twigs and small branches like a hot knife through butter.
The back of the blade has been coated with wood resin to preven seizing and allow for a smooth and reliable operation, and they have been professionally "clam-sharpened", meaning the outside of the blade is not sharpened at a flat angle, but to a rounded curve, similar to the shell of a clam. This allows the edge of the blade to be very thin and sharp, and to quickly get thicker, providing strength and stability. This gives maximum sharpness while reducing chips, cracks and damage.
